Sisseton-Wahpeton Oyate Farm

Cultivating corn and soybeans on the Lake Traverse Reservation, honoring our Dakota heritage while embracing modern agricultural excellence across northeastern South Dakota and southeastern North Dakota.

Rooted in Dakota Tradition

The Sisseton-Wahpeton Oyate is a federally recognized tribe representing the Dakota people of the Sisitunwan-Wahpetunwan Oyate. Our reservation spans seven counties across two states, encompassing rich agricultural land that has sustained our people for generations.

As river-plains people, the Sisseton-Wahpeton Sioux have historically farmed these lands. Today, we continue this tradition with modern agricultural practices, cultivating thousands of acres of corn and soybeans while maintaining our connection to the earth and our cultural values.

With over 14,000 tribal members throughout the United States and abroad, we are proud to be the tenth largest employer in South Dakota, contributing significantly to the regional economy while preserving our heritage.
